Busse, streiks und andere schöne Sachen - Buses, strikes and other lovely things

Heute habe ich mir mal La Boca angeschaut - ein ziemlich alter Stadtteil beim Hafen. Gemäss Reiseführer sollte man dort sehr vorsichtig sein und die touristischen Strassenzüge auf keinen Fall verlassen. Nun ich habe mir das natürlich zu Herzen genommen, schliesslich will ich ja nicht völlig ausgenommen unter der Autobahnbrücke enden... Die Hinfahrt mit dem Bus habe ich dann auch zeimlich souverän hingekriegt und war auf Anhieb am richtigen Ort. La Boca ist bis jetzt schon fast das schönste was ich hier gesehen habe. Es hat viele kleine Läden und hübsche Restaurants. An jeder Ecke begegnet man dem Tango (wohl auch wegen der vielen Touristen hier). Aber mir hats gefallen. Am lustigsten fand ich ja das Maradona-Double am Hafen. Ich musste echt zweimal hinschauen ob er es nicht wirklich ist. Natürlich konnte man diesen berühmten Herrn auch fotografieren doch dann waren 2 Pesos fällig... Tja, man will ja irgendwie zu Geld kommen wenn man schon so aussieht, oder? Wie in allen touristischen Gegenden hier wird man beim vorbeigehen an Restaurants regelrecht belagert und mit Flyers zugedeckt. Jeder lobt sein Restaurant als das Beste überhaupt. Die Rückfahrt in die Innenstadt verlief soweit eigentlich auch ganz gut. Nach einem kurzen Drink am Puerto Madero konsultierte ich dann abermals meinen GuiaT (der hilfreiche Busfahrplan) um einen Bus zu finden, der mich direkt nach Hause bringt. Nach 20 Min. (das ist eigentlich noch schnell) habe ich dann die Linie 111 evaluiert. So stand ich dann an der Bushaltestelle wo dieser Bus durchfahren sollte, es hatte auch ein entsprechendes Schild doch auch nach 15 Minuten keine Spur der Linie 111 :-( Tja, so musste ich halt bis zur nächsten Metro Station laufen und die Metro nehmen. Zum Glück liegt meine neue Wohnung direkt an einer Metro Station.

Auch habe ich mich heute wieder intensiv mit meiner Weiterreise nach Mendoza am 29.1. beschäftigt. Da die Flugtarife eher teuer sind und die Aerolineas Angestellten fast täglich streiken, werde ich nun mal den Bus versuchen. In 13 Stunden fährt man über Nacht für 72 Franken in den Flachbetten nach Mendoza. Zum Vergleich - die Aerolineas Argentinas verlangt für die gleiche Strecke 190 Franken. Morgen möchte ich dann gerne mal nach Tigre im Norden fahren. Es soll ein schöner Ort in einem noch schöneren Flussdelta sein.

Todays visit was the La Boca aera - a very nice and picturesque neighbourhood at the old port of Buenos Aires. It was mentioned in my travel book that one have to be rather carefull in this aera as it is one of the poorest in Buenos Aires. So you shouldn't really leave the touristic streets unless you want to end up mugged somewhere under the highway bridge. So I took the Bus number 29 which went directly to the Caminito in La Boca. So far no problems at all (still fighting with the bus system here...). So I liked La Boca very much, it's a great place with all its shops and restaurants as well as Tango performances all over the street. I think they do this especially for the tourists but it's nice to look at anyway. When you stroll along the main street called El Caminito you cannot avoid the waiters from the restaurants waving with their flyers to draw attention. Well they can be sometimes a littel bit annoying but it's normal here when tourists are around. At the harbour there was a Maradona look-a-like, I really had to look twice he seemed to be the real one. So you could take pictures from him as well but not without paying 2 pesos. Another way of making money, so why not if you must run around like this... After a quick bocadillo (sandwich) at one of the restaurants (yes, they catched me...smile) I went back by bus to the city center. Before going back to my apartment I had a cool drink at Puerto Madero. So it gave me time to study my GuiaT (the bus guide from Buenos Aires). After 20 minutes - this is rather fast - I've found a bus line which leads me directly to my home. So after finding the next bus stop from the line 111 I stood there for more than 15 minutes but no coach was coming. Well, another setback on my bus adventures... So I walked to the next subway station to take the SUBTE bak to my apartment. I'm happy that the new place is just across a subway station.

I have also been thinking intensely on my onward travel to Mendoza on the 29.1. I would normaly have taken a flight there but as the fares from Aerolineas are rather expensive and they're constantly on strike I might think of taking the overnight bus to Mendoza, which is a travel journey of 13 hours. The bus ticket would cost me only one third of the airfare. The buses are very luxurious with flat beds. So I safe money on the ride and on the hotel night. Tomorrow I finally want to visit Tigre, nice village in the north in a great river delta. Once again I'd like to remind you my picture link to all the fotos I've already made til now.
